True believers

To the editor:

The conservative Christians seem to think that they are the only ones who know the truth. It is interesting that the most conservative people are the least tolerant. One would suppose the opposite. Anyone with any sense at all could read the Bible and find false statements. The Bible states that the sun revolves around the Earth, anyone see anything wrong with that statement? The condoning of slavery is another.

I could go on, except the first fact by itself disproves that the Bible was written by any god. We, as a people, need to shed our false myths and move to the future. Any fundamental religion, whether Christian or not, will only prevent us from becoming a better nation. The recent letters wanting to move backwards into the past by a small group of “true believers” are not representative of the majority of Americans.
