Robert L. Davis

Graveside services for Robert L. Davis, 76, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Memorial Park Cemetery. Military services will be conducted by Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 of the American Legion.

Mr. Davis died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at his home.

He was born Oct. 10, 1928, the son of Joseph and Mabel Davis. He lived in Lawrence his entire life.

Mr. Davis served during the Korean War with the U.S. Marine Corps.

He was a member of Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 of the American Legion. He was a mail carrier in Lawrence and retired in 1990.

He married Shirley Button on Aug. 11, 1951, in Branson, Mo. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Joseph R., Lawrence; a daughter, Susan Davis McDaniel, Lawrence; a twin brother, Richard L., Lawrence; a sister, Vada Hancox, Lawrence; and two grandchildren.

An infant son died earlier.

The family suggests memorials in his name to Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn. or Hospice Care of Douglas County, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
