The Lawrence Mentor’s Duplicate Bridge Club met Dec. 8. Eight pairs competed in a stratified game that followed a Howell movement. Don Brennaman directed the game.

Grant Sutton and Mary Beth Treece claimed first place in A and B. Harry Talley and Don Daugherty were second in A. Mike Lee and Al Ballard were third in A and second in B.

The Lawrence Duplicate Bridge Club met Monday. Nine and a half tables competed in a stratified game that followed a Mitchell movement. Virginia Seaver directed the game.

Playing North-South, Bob Hemenway and Pete Petillo claimed first place in A. Larry Bodle and Kent McCullough finished second in A. Lois Clark and Harry Shaffer were third. Shirley Reese and Chris Lane were fourth in A and first in B. Phyllis Brownlee and Madelyn Jenks were second in B and first in C. Ann Thompson and Grant Sutton were second in C.

Competing East-West, Dave Piro and Donna Johnson were first in A. Carl Mibek and Jack Mibeck were second in A and first in B and C. Mike Blumenfeld and Cathy Blumenfeld were third in A and second in B and C. Glenna Herd and Eldon Herd were fourth in A and third in B.

University Bridge Club announces the winners of its Dec. 11 game. Hosts were Bette and Bud Lukens and Roy and Wilma Cropp.

Blue winners were: Alice Akin, first; Kit Carlson, second; George Bocquin, third; John Golden, fourth; and Jean Khatib, fifth.

Pink winners were: Wanda Kring, first; Aileen Bocquin, second; Cathy Waller, third; Carolyn Harden, fourth; and Florence McNicoll, fifth.

The Lawrence Breakfast Optimist Club met Wednesday at the Hereford House for its annual holiday breakfast meeting. There were 109 members and guests in attendance. Musical entertainment was provided by the Lawrence High School choral.
