Christopher and Amy Riley, Lawrence, announce the birth of their son, Kayden Christopher Riley, born Dec. 2, 2004, in Overland Park. He has a brother, Brandt, 4. Andrew Kong and Robert Figueira, both seniors in the Free State High School band, have been chosen to perform in the Honor Band of America, sponsored by Bands of America. They will travel in March to Indianapolis, where they will perform with some of the best high school instrumentalists in the country.

Chris Bellinder, Lawrence, has been selected as a member of the Luther College Balalaika Ensemble. The ensemble has 15 members, and it performs Russian and East European folk and dance music. Bellinder, a 2002 Free State High School graduate, is the son of David and Sonya Bellinder, Lawrence.
