Kirby Woosley

? Services for Kirby Woosley, 83, of Lawrence, Kan., will be at 7 p.m. Monday at O’Brien-Gerst Funeral Chapel in Grand Rapids. Burial will be Tuesday in Fort Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek.

Mr. Woosley died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Nov. 20, 1921, in Jacksonville, Ill., the son of Olen and Zelpha Saleng Woosley. He moved from Grand Rapids to Lawrence in 2000.

Mr. Woosley retired in 1962 after serving 20 years in the U.S. Navy. He retired as a storekeeper chief. He worked as a security officer for General Motors in Walker for 18 years before he retired in 1982.

He married Arline L. Boeckel on July 12, 1946, in Racine, Wis. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Wayne, Battle Creek; two daughters, Susan Rich, Grand Rapids, and Jayne James, Baldwin, Kan.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral chapel.
