Santa Fe Trail boys rout Ward; Perry, Oskaloosa swept

? Santa Fe Trail High took an early lead, and then increased it as the game went on in its 62-33 boys basketball blowout Tuesday of Kansas City Ward.

“We jumped out to a good lead at the end of the first quarter at 11-3,” Santa Fe coach Jason Schaffer said. “Once our shots started falling in the second quarter and third quarter, we pulled away. It was a good team effort by us.”

K.C. Ward never went into halftime trailing by 19.

It neutralized Santa Fe Trail’s offense late in the fourth quarter, but by then it was too late.

Immaculata 62, Oskaloosa 38

Oskaloosa — The Bears went to halftime down eight, still within reach, but could not solve Kris Pike in the second half. Pike scored all of his 10 points after the intermission.

K.C. Piper 41, Perry-Lecompton 37

Kansas City, Kan. — Perry-Lecompton is still looking for its first win after losing a defensive battle with K.C. Piper.

Immaculata 44, Oskaloosa 43

Oskaloosa — Oskaloosa led most of the way, but gave Immaculata 16 late opportunities at the free-throw line, 10 of which Immaculata converted.

K.C. Piper 29, Perry-Lecompton 24

Perry — Perry-Lecompton kept it close in the first half, but fell to Kansas City Piper.

The Kaws jumped to a 17-15 halftime lead, but they shot a paltry 1-for-20 from the field the rest of the way.

K.C. Ward 51, Santa Fe Trail 46

Carbondale — Santa Fe Trail rallied furiously late in the game to overcome a nine-point deficit, but it was not enough.
