Four injured in one-car accident

Mother, 2-year-old daughter treated, released from LMH

Four people were injured Friday afternoon when a car rolled over in Douglas County.

Douglas County Sheriff's deputies look over the scene of a one-car accident about 4 miles east of Lawrence.

The accident happened about 2:10 p.m. in the 1700 block of North 1500 Road between Lawrence and Eudora. The accident involved one car, a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix.

Friday evening, Douglas County Sheriff’s Lt. Stephen R. Brown had little information as to how the accident happened.

According to the sheriff’s office:

Tonganoxie resident Brett A. Johnson, 22, was driving the vehicle when it rolled over. Johnson and a passenger, Enschoch I. Jones, 19, of Lansing, both were taken by air ambulance to University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan.

A University of Kansas Hospital spokesman declined to confirm or deny Johnson or Jones were at the hospital. Information couldn’t be released because of the privacy rules under the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, or HIPAA.

Paramedics and firefighters move an accident victim to a LifeStar helicopter after a one-car accident.

The other two passengers were taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital by Lawrence-Douglas County Fire and Medical ambulances.

Amanda M. Pringle, 21, of Eudora, and her 2-year-old daughter, Nicole Gries, were treated for injuries Friday afternoon and released from the hospital.
