Vera Agnes Moffitt

Mrs. Moffitt died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Village Villa Senior Center in Nortonville.

She was born Sept. 29, 1918, in Meriden, the daughter of Harvey Franklin and Agnes Emma Ruge Barry. She was raised in Fairview Township. She lived on a farm northeast of Ozawkie, moving to Oskaloosa in 1996. She had lived at Village Villa since 2000.

Mrs. Moffitt was a homemaker and worked as a cook at Ozawkie High School and Jayhawk Boy Scout Camp. She also worked in the housekeeping department at St. Francis Hospital. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Oskaloosa and was a former member of Pleasant View Grange and Pleasant View Club.

She married Charles W. Moffitt on Aug. 30, 1941. He died Dec. 29, 2000.

Survivors include a son, Tom Moffitt, Macon, Mo.; two daughters, Mary Noble Shupe, Holton, and Pam King, Oskaloosa; a half-brother, Virgil Barry, Camarillo, Calif.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
