Seahawks stumble against St. Mary’s

? Despite a 34-point loss, Seabury Academy boys basketball coach Marcus Heckman couldn’t help but be pleased with his Seahawks’ effort against mighty St. Mary’s Academy.

“They are a fantastic team,” Heckman said after Seabury fell, 64-30, Thursday. “I thought we actually played better tonight than we did Tuesday night. We’re moving in the right direction. Give them a lot of credit. They’re fantastic.

“We had two goals at halftime. We wanted to limit them to 25 possessions in the second half, and we held them to 23. And we wanted to limit their offensive rebounds, and we held them without an offensive rebound. So, we didn’t give up. We kept playing. When you’re down 30, it’s tough to keep playing.”

Grayson Dillon led Seabury (1-4) with 12 points. Matt Parker added eight.

The Seahawks will play host Dec. 17 to Englewood Christian.
