E. Verne Moore

Mr. Moore died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at a Holton care facility.

He was born April 19, 1913, in Larkinburg, the son of Frank and Mabel Scoville Moore. He attended Carbon Grade School and Holton High School. He was a lifelong resident of Larkinburg and Holton.

Mr. Moore was a lifelong farmer and stockman, except for working briefly at a defense plant in Bluffton, Ohio, during World War II. He was a member of Larkinburg Christian Church, Masonic Lodge in Whiting and Netawaka, and also was a member of the Shrine. He had served on the A.S.C.S. Board in Holton for several years.

He married Rachel L. Cannon on March 9, 1935, in Holton. She died Feb. 13, 2004.

A daughter, Karen Harshaw, died in 1980.

Survivors include a son, Ronald, Topeka; a daughter, JoAnn Becker, Eudora; a sister, Hazel Carlson, Huntington Beach, Calif.; a brother, Clyde Moore, Holton; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
