Seabury boys, girls split pair with KSD

? Kansas School for the Deaf built a 13-point halftime lead and never looked back en route to a 46-28 high school boys basketball victory over Lawrence Seabury on Tuesday night.

Scott King led Seabury with eight points, followed by Paul Bireta with six.

“They were just much more aggressive and much more physical than we were,” Seabury coach Marcus Heckman said. “They play hard, and they play good, solid man (defense). We just could not match their intensity really at any point in the game. They just wore us down.”

Seabury (1-3) will play Thursday at St. Mary’s.

Lane Frizell added four points for Seabury, which allowed just three points before halftime.

“I keep saying it over and over, but they’re giving me great defensive pressure, and they’re playing hard,” Seahawks coach Nick Taylor said. “They’re giving everything they have every game.”

Seabury will play host Dec. 17 to Englewood Christian in the Seahawks’ home opener.

“Overall, the whole team is giving a great effort,” Taylor said. “I’m really pleased with the way we’re playing right now.”
