Governor appoints new state librarian

? Christie Brandau, the state librarian of Michigan, has been appointed state librarian of Kansas, Gov. Kathleen Sebelius announced Tuesday.

“Kansas has gotten a real jewel in Christie Brandau,” Sebelius said.

Brandau has served as state librarian of Michigan since 2000. Prior to that she was assistant state librarian in Iowa for nine years.

The position pays $86,000. She replaces Duane Johnson, who recently retired.
