Lawrence theater extends hit show

Lawrence Community Theatre will extend its run of “Anything Goes” by adding an additional performance at 7 p.m. Sunday.

The popular show features shipboard romance, mixed-up identities, Cole Porter music and tap dance production numbers. “Anything Goes” has been playing to sold-out audiences since it opened Nov. 26, and only a few tickets remain for the regularly scheduled performances Thursday through Sunday.

Watkins celebrating holidays with sweets

People with a sweet tooth, take notice.

The Watkins Community Museum of History is inviting the community to bring and share sweet treats from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday in the lower level of the museum, 1047 Mass.

To gain admission, people must bring cookies, pies or some type of sweet to share. They will be invited to eat the treats and walk through the museum, which will be decorated for the holidays.

Horned Frogs to hop into Allen Fieldhouse

Former Kansas University assistant basketball coach Neil Dougherty brings his Texas Christian Horned Frogs to town Thursday for a nonconference contest against Kansas. The Jayhawks and Frogs will tangle at 8 p.m. with a live telecast on ESPN, which is Sunflower Broadband’s Channel 33. Dougherty’s son, Neil, a former Free State High School guard, plays on his dad’s TCU team.

Farmers market offers unique gifts

The Holiday Farmers Market offers one-of-a-kind gift ideas.

More than 40 vendors will be selling products from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 2206 E. 23rd St. This year’s event features fresh produce, handmade trinkets and gift items, an assortment of baked goods and a variety of meats.
