Chester Alden Fleming
Eudora ? Services for Chester Alden Fleming, 94, Eudora, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Eudora. Burial will be in Eudora Cemetery.
Mr. Fleming died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at the Eudora Nursing Center.
He was born Dec. 4, 1910, in Salina, the son of John A. and Bertha Holmes Fleming.
Mr. Fleming graduated in 1940 from the Kansas University School of Law. He worked for the federal government as a claims representative, claims authorizer, field representative, acting manager and supervisor for the Social Security Administration. After retiring as a supervisor, he practiced law in Eudora for five years.
He was a 70-year member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, where he was a choir member and served on the church council. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Mason-Doric Lodge No. 83 AF & AM in Eudora, serving twice as master. He also had been president of the Eudora Township Library board of directors.
He married Violet Gerstenberger on Aug. 29, 1936. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Carl, Eudora; a daughter, Karin McKean, Wichita; a brother, Bill, Falfurrias, Texas; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
One granddaughter died earlier.
Friends may call from noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary’s Eudora Chapel.
