Burlingame sweeps Seahawks
Burlingame ? Burlingame broke open a close game late in the second quarter and went on to win.
Seabury was led by Matt Parker with 12 points. Scott King added six points, and Paul Bireta scored five.
“We played very well for a quarter and a half,” Seahawks coach Marcus Heckman said.
“Really, the first half we were pretty strong.”
Seabury trailed by just one point, 15-14, midway through the second quarter. But by halftime, Burlingame had built a 33-20 lead.
“The second half, we were out of gas, just out of gas and in foul trouble,” Heckman said. “They kind of raised their level of play, and we didn’t match it.
“They wore us down as the game went on. We’ll bounce back.”
Seabury (1-2) will play Tuesday at Kansas School for the Deaf.

Burlingame — Host Burlingame jumped to a quick 10-point lead and never let up in a 47-32 high school girls basketball victory over Lawrence’s Seabury Academy on Saturday in the Burlingame Tournament.
“We fought to the end,” Seabury coach Nick Taylor said. “We only have seven players again, but the girls really played hard and never gave up. It was a really good team effort this tournament.”
