Iowa City, Iowa ? Pierre Pierce scored 19 points, and No. 23 Iowa continued to dominate in its own tournament, rolling to an 88-53 victory over Centenary (0-4) Friday in the first round of the Hawkeye Challenge.

Greg Brunner added 14 points for the Hawkeyes (5-1), including a crowd-pleasing dunk during the big run. Jeff Horner had nine points and seven assists. Pierce had five of Iowa’s 12 steals.

Richmond, Va. — Freshman Sean Singletary scored 25 points, helping Virginia (6-0) overcome a huge game by Auburn freshman Toney Douglas. Douglas had 33 as the Tigers (5-1) lost for the first time under coach Jeff Lebo.
