Cheney view

To the editor:

The Aug. 25 Journal-World reported Vice President Dick Cheney’s views on gay marriage. According to Cheney “With respect to the question of relationships, my general view is that freedom means freedom for everyone. People ought to be able to free — ought to be free to enter into any kind of relationship they want to.”

Cheney also holds that “same sex marriage should be left to the states to decide.” Of course, Cheney knows that most states have decided that gays and lesbians should not be free to enter into the marriage relationship. So apparently Cheney holds the view that gays and lesbian should both be free and not free to enter into a marriage relationship.

We should all be delighted to notice how Dick Cheney has avoided that alleged dread Democratic propensity to flip-flop on the issues. And, of course, we shall all sleep better at night knowing that a man with such excellent mental habits is located close to the center of power in Washington, D. C.
