Houston ? Officials of a mission that erected a monument honoring a philanthropist want a federal judge to await appeals of his ruling to remove a Bible from the display before enforcing the order.

Attorneys for the Star of Hope planned to ask U.S. District Judge Sim Lake to allow the mission’s Bible to remain on display outside the Harris County Civil Courts Building.

Lake earlier ordered the county to remove the Bible, which is in a glass display case atop a monument the mission erected near the courthouse door in 1956.
