Goose vs. gander

To the editor:

Mr. Kerry is complaining about attacks on his service record in Vietnam. He demands George Bush order a halt to these attacks. Mr. Kerry has filed a complaint with the Federal Elections Commission alleging illegal coordination between the 527 group known as Swift Boat Veterans forTruth and the Bush campaign. This complaint is based on the “web of connections” derived from the fact that prominent Republican donors have also contributed to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.

Perhaps, then, Mr. Kerry would order a halt to the attacks by himself and his supporters on Mr. Bush’s National Guard service. Perhaps, then, the various 527 groups supporting Mr. Kerry who are funded by known Democratic donors (George Soros comes to mind) should be investigated for their “web of connections” to the Kerry campaign. And, perhaps, the “in-kind advertising” masquerading as documentary (Mr. Moore’s movie) should be similarly investigated by the FEC.

What this really looks like is that the Democrats are angry that the Republicans are doing to them what the Democrats have been doing for a long time to the Republicans. Frankly, if it is good for the goose, it is good for the gander!
