Dixie Lee Sigler

Private graveside inurnment for Dixie Lee Sigler, 73, Lawrence, will be Friday at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Sigler died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at her home.

She was born March 2, 1931, in Topeka, the daughter of Edwin B. and Fanny K. Logan Day. She graduated from Lost Springs High School and attended Emporia State University. She moved from Emporia to Lawrence in 1968.

Mrs. Sigler was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority at Emporia State and the Williams Fund of Kansas University. She was also a member of the Lawrence Humane Society and First United Methodist Church.

She was a homemaker and owned Dixie’s Designs for several years. She also had taught school in Lincolnville and Abilene.

She married Lawrence B. Sigler on Dec. 23, 1953, in Emporia. He died April 21, 1992.

Survivors include three daughters, Susan Postlethwaite and Sheryl Henry, both of Lawrence, and Janet Hodges, Olathe; three brothers Edwin “Buz” Day, Gilbert, Ariz., Bob Day, Scranton, and Bill Day, Florence Ariz.; six grandchildren; and a stepgrandson.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Humane Society or the Oncology Center at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, sent in care of the mortuary.
