City in for a soaking

If you’re heading outside today, be prepared to get wet.

“Definitely take that umbrella with you,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

A few rumbles of thunder and some scattered showers were rolling into the Lawrence area this morning, and more widespread storms are expected by the noon hour.

“We could see a half an inch to an inch of rain today,” Schack said.

Today’s temperatures were starting out in the 70s, with the high expected to reach 83 — maybe.

“Now that the showers have started, I don’t think we’re going to hit that 83,” Schack said. “We’ll probably only top out around 80.”

Showers are expected to remain in the Lawrence area until Tuesday morning, with the overnight temperature dropping to a low of 69.

After the rain ends Tuesday morning, temperatures will rise to 91, with another chance of thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon.

Wednesday morning’s low will be 70, with the high Wednesday reaching 93.
