Open scrimmage planned

In preparation for its upcoming Canada trip, Kansas University’s men’s basketball team will have an open scrimmage Aug. 28 at Horejsi Center.

The scrimmage will begin at 4 p.m. and will precede KU’s 7 p.m. volleyball exhibition match against an alumni team. There is no charge for admission to either event. However, the capacity of Horejsi Center is 1,300. Doors will open at Horejsi at 2:30 p.m. and will close once capacity is met.

“I’m real concerned about heat,” Self said, explaining why the scrimmage would be in Horejsi, not larger Allen Fieldhouse. “That’s how Wayne (Simien) got hurt (last year), on a wet floor. We’d spend the whole time wiping up sweat from 17 bodies.”
