Showers moving in tonight

If you like hot, summer weather, you’ll love today.

After several days of below-normal temperatures, the thermometer will climb to 93 degrees, with breezy conditions, said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. But it won’t last long — cool, wet weather is in the forecast for tonight through Friday, Schack said.

Temperatures were starting out today in the 60s, climbing to 88 by noon and reaching the low 90s by late afternoon.

“We’ll start out partly cloudy, but by this afternoon, the clouds thicken up,” Schack said.

A cold front is moving in this evening, bringing in the chance for scattered thunderstorms tonight and early Thursday morning. The National Weather Service says the chance for showers and thunderstorms is 50 percent for tonight and Thursday morning.

Thursday morning’s temperature will start at 68, climbing to a high of 81.

Showers and thunderstorms will develop Thursday afternoon and remain in the area through Friday afternoon, Schack said. The National Weather Service is predicting a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms.

“We could get upwards of an inch and a half of rain,” Schack said.

Friday’s temperature will start out at 66, with the high climbing to 77.

Dry weather returns for the weekend, with Saturday’s morning low at 62, climbing to a high of 82.
