Police seek information on cemetery vandalism
Lawrence police are trying to find out who looted and damaged an east Lawrence cemetery to the tune of $9,000 over the weekend.
The groundskeeper at Memorial Park Cemetery, located on East 15th Street, told police that sometime during the weekend a granite bench, valued at $6,000, was broken into pieces and 10 bronze vases, valued together at $3,000, were taken from various grave sites.
Anyone with information is asked to call the anonymous Crimestopper TIPS line at 843-TIPS (843-8477).
