Eugene R. Alford
Peoria, Ill. ? Services for Eugene R. Alford, 87, Peoria, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Parkview United Church of Christ, Peoria. Cremation is planned.
Mr. Alford died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004, at his home.
He was born June 13, 1917, in Lawrence, Kan., the son of Frederick S. and Dorothy Rothwell Alford.
Mr. Alford graduated from Kansas University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He worked for Caterpillar Inc. for 40 years, retiring in 1981 as an assistant chief engineer in the Mossville plant. He also farmed in Knox County.
He was a member of the National Rifle Assn., the Republican National Committee, the Society of Automotive Engineers and the Caterpillar Retirees Club.
He married Muriel E. Simms on May 29, 1943, in Peoria. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include one son, Richard, Brimfield; one sister, Areta Meyer, Lawrence, Kan.; one brother, Ted, Perkafie, Penn.; five grandchildren; and six grandchildren.
A son, Ronald, died earlier.
Friends may call one hour before services at the church.
