Donald Edward Tobler

Services for Donald Edward Tobler, 80, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Private burial will be in McLouth Cemetery.

Mr. Tobler died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 14, 1923, in Lawrence, the son of John and Effie Holcolm Tobler.

Mr. Tobler was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 of the American Legion. He was a plant supervisor at FMC Corp. He retired after 35 years of service.

He married Betty Wellman Umholtz on Sept. 29, 1945, in McLouth. She died April 20, 2000.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Kabler, Lawrence; a son, Tom, Lawrence; two sisters, Eunice Blough and Ina Rogers, both of Lawrence; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Debbie Diane Tobler, died earlier.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorial to the Muscular Dystrophy Assn., sent in care of the mortuary.
