Betty and Michael Collins, Overland Park, announce the birth of their daughter, Adeline Victoria Collins, born July 22, 2004. She has a brother Aidan, 2. Maternal grandparents are Vicki and Joe Douglas, Lawrence, and Michele Collins and Jim Collins, both of Overland Park.
- Mike and Kristel Lewis, Lawrence, announce the birth of a son Macade Michael Lewis, born July 14, 2004, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Maternal grandparents are Jere and Judy Wiechman, Barnes, and the late Rev. Darrel Thalmann. Paternal grandparents are Randy and Sue Lewis, Lawrence. Great-grandparents are Kathryn Hagen, Lawrence; Lois Kitt, Baldwin; and Albert and Leona Wiechman, Linn.
- Darrin and Nicole Sisk, Lee’s Summit, Mo., announce the birth of a daughter, Mary Clare Kimberly Sisk, born Aug. 3, 2004, in Independence, Mo. She has a sister, Anna, 8, and a brother, Thomas, 6. Maternal grandparents are Jerry and Helen Bratcher, Palatine, Ill. Paternal grandparents are Vic and Diane Sisk, Lawrence. Great-grandmother is Virginia Sisk, Hutchinson.
- Melissa Colgan, Lawrence, is the recipient of the 2004 Theta Link Kappa Alpha Theta Foundation Scholarship. She received the scholarship in recognition of her high academic achievement, participation in Kappa Alpha Theta activities and involvement in the community. Colgan is an initiated member of Delta Eta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta at Kansas State University.
- Ryan Matthew Bodensteiner, Lawrence, received a New Nebraskan scholarship worth $8,490 to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The scholarship was based on academic achievement.
- Joel Beard and Anne Kettle, both of Lawrence, have been named to the St. Olaf College dean’s list for the spring semester by receiving at least a 3.75 grade-point average.
- Matthew Farmer, Lawrence, received the Barney K. Baker scholarship at Pittsburg State University for the 2004 fall academic semester. Farmer is a Baldwin High School graduate.
- The descendants of Louis and Elisabeth Johanning Haas had their 50th annual reunion on Aug. 8 at the Niebrugge family farm north of Worden. Hosts were the Wayne Coffman family. The family had a basket dinner. A short business meeting was conducted by Chris Niebrugge, president, and Darlene Schwarz, secretary.
The Coffman family farm is where Louis and Elisabeth Haas started building the farmstead beginning with the house in 1879; the group celebrated its 125th anniversary. The house is being restored by its owners, Wayne, Janel, Curtis, Jay and Melanie Coffman. A commemorative booklet made by the Coffman family was presented to family members. Gifts were given to several members who have attended all 50 reunions. The late Amalie Haas Plambeck started the reunion 50 years ago.
The next reunion will be Aug. 14, 2005. Hosts will be Robby and Tammy Johnson Lamb. Officers will be Melanie Coffman, president, and Lucile Shoemaker, secretary.

There were 26 out-of-town family members in attendance.
Area guests who attended were the Rev. Mary Lou and Ron Klein, Baldwin, along with three out-of-town guests.
- Allegra Fisher, a Perry-Lecompton High School student, was selected to participate in the 21st annual Kansas Masonic All-State High School Marching Band Camp July 27-31 at Emporia State University.
