Routh
Billy and Mavis Routh, Baldwin, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Sunday.
Billy Routh and Mavis Steward were married Aug. 15, 1954, at Christian Church in Humansville, Mo.
Billy is retired from the city of Baldwin.
Mavis is retired from Baker University.
The couple’s children are Cheryl Medlen, Lawrence; Chris Routh, Topeka; and Carol Grammer, Eudora.
They have eight grandchildren.
Schneck
Gaylord and Phoebe Schneck, Oskaloosa, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception and open house from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 22 at Kanwaka Hall near Lawrence.
Friends and family are invited to attend.
Gaylord Schneck and Phoebe Torneden were married Aug. 22, 1954, in Lawrence. They are retired and reside in rural Oskaloosa.
Their children are Scott and Julie Petesch, and Mike and Dee Schneck, Baldwin. They have six grandchildren.
The couple request no gifts.
Freeman
Bill and Joan Freeman, LeRoy, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 22 at the First Christian Church in LeRoy.
Joan Bader and Bill Freeman were married Aug. 22, 1954, at the First Christian Church in LeRoy.
Hosts will be their children, Jennifer Meats, LeRoy, and Jeff and Nicole Freeman, Cheyenne, Wyo., and their three grandchildren.
Bill was a teacher and head football and track coach at Lawrence High School from 1974 until his retirement in 1990. He owns First National Bank in LeRoy. Joan was a school teacher until the birth of their daughter in 1971. She then devoted her time to being a full-time homemaker.
Strafuss
Al and Anne Strafuss, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Monday.
Al Strafuss and Anne Scanlan were married Aug. 16, 1954, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Chapman.
Their children are Paula and Curt Snyder, Rice Lake, Wis.; Kathleen Strafuss, Houston; Patricia and Steve Bauerband, Miami; Tom Strafuss, Dallas; and Mary and Carl Myer, Shawnee. They have 11 grandchildren.
Their children played host to a family dinner July 10 at the Hereford House in Lawrence.
Bieber
David and Aliene Bieber, Lawrence, will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 21 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1245 N.H.
They were married Aug. 19, 1979, in Newton. David worked for KP&L for 38 years and farmed. Aliene worked as an operating room technician in New Mexico. She has been active in church, Kanwaka Family Community Education and Kanwaka Literary Club.
Their children are Glynda Jean McNew, Jacksonville, Fla.; Rex Alan Miller and Max Michael Miller, both of Lawrence, and Rebecca Ann Seitter, Overland Park.
