Jayhawks to have open practice this morning

Kansas University football fans can take their first look at the 2004 Jayhawks during an open practice at 8:30 a.m. today on the field behind Anschutz Pavilion.

KU opened preseason camp with a closed practice Saturday. Today will be the first opportunity for fans to see newcomers such as San Antonio freshman Gary Green, who could challenge veteran running backs Clark Green and John Randle for playing time.

“He has extremely quick feet,” quarterback Adam Barmann said of the freshman, who was the nation’s seventh-rated all-purpose running back as a high school senior last fall at James Madison High. “He looks like he can be a real good player for us. I know the coaches have big expectations for him. Clark and John are doing a real good job of helping him out.”
