This week’s cool temperatures may have you wondering what happened to summer.

“I can’t decide if it’s August or September,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. Cold fronts will be bringing morning lows in the 50s and afternoon highs in the 70s through the week, with some chances for rain.

“It’s very unseasonable for this time of year,” Schack said. The average high for this time of August is 90. “I recommend keeping those windows open.”

Today will bring the warmest weather for the week, with the high topping out at 85 under partly cloudy skies. Going into the evening hours, more clouds will develop as the first cold front moves in, bringing the possibility for isolated showers, she said.

The National Weather Service says the chance for rain is 30 percent this afternoon and 30 percent tonight.

Overnight, the temperature will drop to a low of 62 by early Tuesday morning. The cold front will keep Tuesday’s high to only 77, Schack said. A second cold front comes through on Tuesday night, bringing the possibility for more showers and thunderstorms. The National Weather Service is saying the rain chance is 50 percent.

The cold front will drop Wednesday morning’s temperature to a low of 56, Schack said.

“We’re used to seeing overnight lows of 72, but that’s going to be our high on Wednesday,” Schack said.

Overnight lows will be in the 50s through Friday, with afternoon highs reaching the mid 70s, she said.
