Joe Edmond Swadley
Graveside services for Joe Edmond Swadley, 86, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Vinland Cemetery.
Mr. Swadley died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 4, 1917, in Bradleyville, Mo., the son of Jerry Blackburn and Ollie Victoria Metcalf Swadley.
Mr. Swadley was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in World War II. He was a maintenance technician for Property Manager Inc. in Lawrence. He also worked for Vincents Furniture Store, Pennel Electric and Kansas Color Press. He attended Friends Evangelical Church.
He married Chloe Ellen Paul on Sept. 28, 1945, in Ozark, Mo. She survives, of the home.
Other survivors include two daughters, Linda Wiseman, Baldwin, and Michelle Ann White, Lawrence; one son, Kenneth Joe, Colorado Springs, Colo.; one sister, Dolly Sartan, Bradleyville, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family suggests donations to the Joe Swadley Memorial Fund, sent in care of the mortuary.
