Arthur Charles ‘Bud’ Mangelsdorf

Mr. Mangelsdorf died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at his home.

He was born Oct. 14, 1919, in Atchison, the son of Friedrich Wilhelm and Blanche Eola Scamell Mangelsdorf.

Mr. Mangelsdorf earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in plant agronomy and economics from Kansas State University in 1941. He was a seedsman for Rudy Patrick Seed Co. and Royal Seeds. He was a member of Village United Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village.

He married Doris Irene Baber in June 1947 in Kansas City, Kan. She survives.

Other survivors include four daughters, Martha Walker, Flower Mound, Texas, Pamela Mathews, Overland Park, Deborah Mangelsdorf, Manhattan, and Linda Mangelsdorf-Oshel, Lecompton; two sisters, Constance “Dolly” Menze, St. Paul, Minn., and Frances Seeber, Conifer, Colo.; a sister-in-law, Blanche Mangelsdorf, Lawrence; and six grandchildren.

Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee is in charge of arrangements.
