32-year-old to sell all he owns on eBay

At age 32 and on the brink of divorce, computer system manager Jonathan Zulkeski wants to start over, so he’s turned to decidedly modern means by trying to sell all his worldly possessions, from car to toaster, in one lot for $40,000 on eBay, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Zulkeski, who lives in Waterbury, Conn., and whose 9-year marriage produced two children, ages 8 and 2, has yet to find any takers.

But he says his Internet auction, titled “Everything I Own,” is no joke.

“I don’t want anyone to think I’m a shyster or anything. I’m really in this. … I’m definitely serious,” said Zulkeski, who outlines the personal details of his life in the eBay item description.

His auction Web site has had 8,000 visitors, he said, but no bids. Bidding closes Thursday.

Second Californian dies from West Nile

A 75-year-old man has become the second person in California to die from the West Nile virus, officials said Sunday.

Morris Sternberg, who lived in Grand Terrace, died Saturday night after two weeks in a coma at Redlands Community Hospital, according to the San Bernardino County coroner’s office. Sternberg had been suffering from several ailments, including dehydration, and tests confirmed he had been infected with West Nile and died of encephalitis.

This year more than 50 people in California have been infected with the West Nile Virus in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside, Imperial, Kern and Fresno counties. The Centers for Disease Control Web site reports 161 cases in Arizona.

No human cases have been reported in Kansas this year.
