Phoenix — Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Richie Sexson was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday after an MRI showed he had a partially dislocated left shoulder.

Sexson was injured on a check-swing in the eighth inning of Wednesday night’s 4-3 loss here to the Chicago Cubs.

Sexson has nine home runs. He hit a 503-footer Monday night against the Cubs, the longest home run in Bank One Ballpark’s seven-year history.

McKeon says Bonds one of three best ever

Denver — Jack McKeon sounded as much like Barry Bonds’ agent as the opposing manager.

“He’s already one of the top three players of all time and I don’t know who the others would be,” McKeon said.

So Bonds is better than Joe DiMaggio? Willie Mays? Ted Williams? Stan Musial?

“I’ve seen those guys,” said McKeon, 73, “but I’ve got to take Bonds. I’m talking about the mechanics and his makeup and determination. This guy is so quick with the bat. You can have Cy Young in town and he’ll hit him.”
