Justin J. ‘Judd’ Spence

? A memorial service for Justin J. “Judd” Spence, 85, Overland Park, was Monday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Overland Park. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery.

Mr. Spence died Thursday, April 22, 2004, at his home.

He was born Oct. 12, 1918, the son of Loretta Finn and William J. Spence.

Mr. Spence was a veteran of World War II. He served in the 79th Infantry and was awarded a Bronze Star. He was discharged as a captain in 1945. He worked for 37 years in the field of French perfume and cosmetics. He retired from Guerlain Inc. in 1983. He also worked part-time for St. Joseph Health Center in the Volunteer Transport Department for 12 years and volunteered there after his retirement. He had been active with Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the Spirit Movers for the past 18 years.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jane Beardsley Spence, of the home; two sons, Joe, Phoenix, and Steve, Eudora; two daughters, Mary Winstead, Chicago, and Ann Bowren, Lenexa; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A son, Tom, died in 1975.
