Jayhawks shock NU

? Kansas University’s softball team plated three runs in the top of the fifth inning in a shocking 3-0 victory over No. 13-ranked Nebraska on Wednesday.

It marked the Huskers’ first Big 12 Conference loss against 12 wins and dropped NU to 36-13 overall.

Sophomore third baseman Nettie Fierros led off the three-run fifth inning with a solo home run to left off pitcher Peaches James (28-6), who had a 15-game win streak snapped.

Kassie Humphreys (13-10) struck out six while pitching a five-hitter. KU (28-25, 4-10) will meet Texas at 2 p.m. Saturday at Arrocha Ballpark.
