LINCOLN, NEB. ? No Big 12 Conference softball team has defeated Nebraska this spring — in league games, that is. NU is 12-0 in conference contests.

However, Kansas blanked the Cornhuskers, 3-0, in an early March non-league game at the Jayhawk Classic in Lawrence.

Now the Jayhawks will have another crack at the Huskers. Game time is 5:30 p.m. today at NU’s Bowlin Stadium.

Kansas has struggled mightily in league road games this season. The Jayhawks are 0-7 and have been outscored 38-5 away from Arrocha Ballpark, where they are 3-3 against conference foes.

KU is likely to face the Big 12’s best pitcher today. Right-hander Peaches James leads the league with 28 wins and an 0.68 earned-run average.

Two of James’ victories have come against Kansas.
