Bernice Marlene ‘Mo’ Pope

? Services for Bernice Marlene “Mo” Pope, 67, Topeka, Kan., will be this morning at Absentee Shawnee Community Center in Little Axe Community, 15 miles west of Tecumseh. Burial will be in Absentee Shawnee Tribal Cemetery.

Mrs. Pope died Sunday, April 25, 2004, in Topeka.

She was born July 27, 1936, in Tecumseh, the daughter of Charley and Lillian Panther Mann. She was raised in Tecumseh and had lived in Lawrence, Kan., and Topeka for several years.

Mrs. Pope was a member of the Absentee Shawnee Tribe. She was a housekeeper.

She married Lee Roy Pope in Oklahoma. He died earlier.

A daughter, Krista Barber, also died earlier.

Survivors include four daughters, Paula Noyes and Janis Tolbert, both of Topeka, Shelly Kilmer, Noble, and Jeanie Columbus, Norman; a son, Curtis Bentley, Ellsworth, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Cooper Funeral Home in Tecumseh is in charge of arrangements.
