Baylor completes sweep of Jayhawks, 9-2

? All nine Baylor starters hit safely, and Josh Ford belted a three-run home run Sunday afternoon as the Bears defeated Kansas University, 9-2, in Big 12 Conference baseball.

Baylor (18-22, 8-8 Big 12) swept the rain-shortened, two-game series with the Jayhawks (24-22-1, 2-11).

Baylor’s Trey Taylor (4-3) earned the victory in 61/3 innings, allowing two runs, one earned, on eight hits and a walk with four strikeouts.

Kansas cut the deficit to 3-2 in the fifth on RBI singles by Matt Baty and Andy Scholl, but the Bears responded in the bottom of the inning with four runs. Michael Griffin led off with his second double of the day and then stole third. Two batters later, Reid Brees singled through the right side to plate Griffin. Zach Dillon followed with a single through the left side, and two batters later, Ford hit his second home run of the series.

Kansas takes a break from league play with a 7 p.m. game Tuesday at Southwest Missouri State.
