Lawrence W. Mages

? Services for Lawrence W. Mages, 81, Eudora, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Eudora. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.

Mr. Mages died Friday, April 23, 2004, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo.

He was born Sept. 28, 1922, in Ottawa, the son of Frank C. and Mary Kreusch Mages. He graduated from Ottawa High School in 1940.

Mr. Mages served from 1941 to 1943 in World War II. He retired from Farmland Chemical Plant in 1987 after working there 33 years. He previously had worked for International Harvester in Ottawa for nine years and at the Hercules Powder Plant for a short time. He also farmed for many years in the Ottawa and Lawrence areas.

He married Marjorie Mae McKoon on Nov. 16, 1943, in Homewood. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Patricia Hoover, Lawrence, and Veronica “Vicki” Isaacs, Lawrence; two sons, Paul, Topeka, and Larry, Ottawa; a brother, Eugene, Apple Valley, Calif.; three sisters, Frances Turner, Overland Park, Helen Scott, Ottawa, and Bonita Welborn, Ottawa; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A rosary will be at 7 p.m., Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Eudora Chapel.

The family suggests memorials to the Bea Martin Peck Animal Shelter in Ottawa, sent in care of the mortuary, 1003 John L. Williams Drive, Eudora 66025.
