The week: Frisbie made herself a big-event champion yet again, taking home the first-place prize in the girls high jump at last weekend’s Kansas Relays. Frisbie cleared a jump of 5-foot-41/2 on her second try, giving her the tiebreaker victory over Kelly Fields of Northern Heights. Frisbie now is the reigning Kansas Relays champion as well as the reigning Class 6A state champion in the high jump.

The week: In a shot put field loaded with talent at the Kansas Relays, Blakesley was the best. His first toss of the night was the only one the entire competition that topped 60 feet, going 60-31/2. It gave Blakesley the Relays gold medal in the high school division, and upped his personal-best throw by more than two feet. Blakesley beat out All-State competitors from Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, Oklahoma and Nebraska.
