T solution

To the editor:

This is in response to Mr. Whitehead’s letter regarding the T (April 9). As a person whose family uses no car and who rides the T every day, I respectfully disagree. Regardless of how full the buses are, stopping service would only be detrimental to society. Hundreds of people would be forced to find alternate transportation or lose their jobs. Furthermore, there is nothing to be gained by these people all going out and getting cars. Even if they could, it certainly would not address the problems of pollution and traffic congestion.

No, I say the solution is not to ax the T but to urge the more fortunate people in their hefty gas guzzlers to “park it” once in awhile, and take the bus. So, I ask you Mr. Whitehead, are you part of the solution or part of the problem?
