KU golf settles for 2nd

? Kansas University’s men’s golf team shot a combined 9-under par over the final three holes to salvage second place Saturday at the 15-team Intercollegiate at MacGregor Downs.

Duke won the team title with 845 strokes. KU, which led Duke by three strokes after Friday’s first two rounds, shot a three-round total of 860 at the 6,867 yard, par-72 MacGregor Downs Country Club.

“Duke played well today, and we didn’t,” Kansas coach Ross Randall said. “It’s unusual for all five guys to have a bad day, but today they did. It’s a little disappointing, but to get second in a good, strong field is OK. We would have liked to play better to be more competitive.”

Kevin Ward led KU with a three-round total of 210, good for a share of third place. Tyler Hall tied for 10th with 214.
