Runyon

Mary and James Runyon

James and Mary Runyon, Lawrence, recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

They were married April 5, 1944, in Ogden, Iowa, at the home of the bride’s parents.

They lived in Ogden, Iowa, before moving to Stratford, Iowa, to farm. James and Mary lived in Stratford for about 25 years before retiring in 1984 and moving to Lawrence.

Their children are De Vonna Oehlert, Lawrence, and Leslyn Runyon, Lyons. They have eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mills

Charles and Janet Mills

Charles and Janet Mills, Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. April 18 at Steve’s Place, 31st and Louisiana streets. Friends and family are invited to share in the celebration.

Charles Mills and Janet Hodges were married April 19, 1954, in Oskaloosa.

Charles worked for Kaw Motors and owned and operated Mills Auto Salvage and later Mills Auto Center. He retired in 1999. Janet worked for Sallie Mae, DST Systems and is currently employed by the Kansas University Endowment Association.

The couple have two daughters, Debra Shafer and Mary Ann Wieneman, both of Lawrence, two grandsons, and one great-grandson.

The couple request no gifts.

Rockhold

Leonard and Alice Rockhold, Baldwin, will celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary on Friday.

Leonard Rockhold and Alice Deay were married April 16, 1959, at the Vinland United Methodist Church.

The couple have two daughters, Julie Tesch, Lawrence, and Stacey Leslie, Baldwin, and three grandchildren.
