Wrap wins peanut butter contest

? Jessica Delaney, an 11-year-old from Princeton, N.J., already shows a creative edge in the kitchen. She recently received top honors in the second annual “Jif’s Most Creative Peanut Butter Sandwich Contest for Kids.”

Her recipe for Peanutty Wrapple Rolls With Maple Dipping Sauce won first prize. It combines apples, crispy rice cereal and peanut butter with a sprinkle of brown sugar, all wrapped up in a flour tortilla. Jessica’s added touch: a maple-cinnamon dipping sauce.

Jessica said she based the recipe on one of her favorite combinations, peanut butter with apples, and added the cereal to give it crunch.

Ideas from the four runners-up for other sandwich combinations:

  • Chopped green apple, pecans and peanut butter.
  • Maple syrup, crunchy peanut butter and bacon.
  • S’mores toppings with creamy peanut butter.
  • Pecans, jalapeño jelly and peanut butter.
