Stiles mulls joining KU staff

Kansas University women’s basketball coach Bonnie Henrickson has talked to women’s great Jackie Stiles about joining Henrickson’s coaching staff, the Journal-World has learned.

“Jackie called me. We’ll talk again. We’re interested, and I think she is interested,” Henrickson said of the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer out of Southwest Missouri State and current WNBA player, who has battled injuries in her pro career.

“If it’s what Jackie wants, we’d certainly be interested. We would give her an opportunity to train and work, recognizing her situation is unique (in playing pro ball in summers).”

Henrickson, a former Virginia Tech head coach and Iowa assistant, recruited Stiles when Stiles was in high school at Claflin. She also coached Stiles on the U.S. gold-medal-winning Jones Cup team.
