Chuck Cordt has been named the Kansas University athletics development director for the Kansas University Endowment Association. Cordt will raise private gifts for the association in support of KU athletics. Cordt joined The Endowment Association in September 2001 as the development director for the School of Medicine. He previously worked for Washburn University, where he served as the executive director of the alumni association, director of corporate gifts, director for the annual fund and sports information director.
Dena Johnston, wellness director at TherapyWorks in Lawrence, recently attended the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Assn.’s 23rd annual convention and trade show in Las Vegas. The event featured early-morning workouts, the latest products and networking opportunities. Johnston has been with TherapyWorks for three years as the director of the 600-member wellness center.
George Paley was re-elected president of Lawrence’s Oread West Office Park at its annual meeting on March 16. Brad Johnson, president of UMB Bank, was elected secretary treasurer.
Lawrence resident Justin Cordova, of Stephens Real Estate, has received the certified residential specialist designation by the Council of Residential Specialists, the largest nonprofit affiliate of the National Association of Realtors.
Karren Weichert, chief executive officer of Midland Hospice Care, has been elected to the board of directors for the Arlington, Va.-based National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. She will serve on the board for three years as one of eight national directors. Weichert has been CEO of Midland Hospice Care, which serves Lawrence patients, for 14 years.
Ecological Architecture and Jack Hope Design Build, both of Lawrence, recently were selected to design and construct the 2004 CASA Playhouse.
The playhouse will be raffled off as part of a fund-raising effort for the Douglas County Court Appointed Special Advocates service, which is a program that provides advocates who represent the interests of abused and neglected children.
