Woody services

Services for Hobart Ogden Woody Sr., 80, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Woody died Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 25, 1923, in Lawrence, the son of Elgin O. and Lucinda M. Edwards Woody.

Mr. Woody served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a Navy Seaman 1st Class. He worked for Kansas University in the nuclear reactor operations of the chemistry department. He retired in 1985 after 38 years. He was the first nuclear reactor operator in Kansas.

He married Minnie Hughes on July 27, 1944, in Lawrence. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Beth Ann Woody, Lawrence; two sons, Hobart O. Jr., Kansas City, Kan., and Gordon E., Seattle; a sister, Sandra Woody Francisco, Sacramento, Calif.; four granddaughters; and nine great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to St. Luke’s A.M.E. Church, sent in care of the mortuary.
