Kansas Democrats to elect delegates to national party convention

The Kansas Democratic Party wlll hold its congressional district conventions Saturday to elect delegates to the party’s national convention in Boston.

The congressional district elections are the second step in the delegate selection process which started March 13 with state senate district caucuses.

In all, Democratic presidential nominee U.S. Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts will receive 32 delegates, and former Vermont governor Howard Dean will receive one delegate.

The congressional district conventions will be held in four locations: Ellsworth, Topeka, Kansas City, Kan., and Wichita.

The Democratic National Convention will be held July 26-29.
