Harry D. Montgomery

? Services for Harry D. Montgomery, 78, La Feria, Texas, will be at 11 a.m. today at Hedges Funeral Home in Camdenton, Mo. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Mo.

Mr. Montgomery died Monday, March 29, 2004, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, Texas.

He was born Nov. 9, 1925, in Linwood, Kan., the son of Harrison and Augusta (Anderson) Montgomery. He graduated from Linwood High, and he had lived in Camdenton.

Mr. Montgomery joined the U.S. Marine Corps after graduation and fought for three years in the South Pacific during World War II. He then worked at Colgate-Palmolive Co. as an electrician for more than 36 years and was a member of the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union Local 5-114 until he retired in 1983. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5923 in Camdenton, Ararat Shrine Temple in Overland Park, Kan., and the Masonic Lodge in Linwood.

Survivors include his wife, Lora, of the home; a son, John D., Glendale, Ariz.; a stepson, David Koenig, Knoxville, Tenn.; two sisters, Opal Rollins, Kansas City, Kan., and Esther Miller, Lawrence; and three grandsons.
